ALGEBRA HONORS 1-2

SCOPE:

It is designed to provide heighten awareness of higher mathematics at an early age, and introduce Algebra concepts and new terminology to the Students.

SEQUENCE:

The lessons will be presented in daily modules. Each day will begin with a review of the previous day's material and any other review material that is required for the current day's lesson. The teacher will monitor and adjust the length of each lesson based on the overall understanding demonstrated by the students.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES:

The learning activities in this class will fall into one of the following categories: Individual in-class activities, Group in-class activities, and Homework, as defined in the Arizona State Standards. (www.ade.az.gov)

EVAUATION:

Home and Class Work 20%

Chapter Tests 60%

Final Exams 20%

Homework and class work will be assigned on a daily basis. A test will be administered at the conclusion of each chapter. A quarterly final examination will be administered in October, December, March and May. A practice test will be provided before each test, which is designed to provide the student with a self-assessment of the areas they are weak and an opportunity to review the class notes and definitions and work with the teacher to improve understanding of difficult concepts.

Note: The Grade received in this class will transfer to any Deer Valley High School as a grade not just credit /no credit

LATE WORK POLICY:

Work will only be accepted late due to illness or family emergency.

TUTORING:

If a student needs extra help I am available before, during, and after school.

CLASSROOM RULES:

1. Respect others and their property at all times

2. Come to class on time with all materials and assignments

3. Do not interfere with the education process.
